Judith Hoppe

Judith P. "Judy" Hoppe, age 57, of St. Martin, formerly of Freeport, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital of injuries from a motor vehicle accident.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 4 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in New Munich.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church in Freeport. Goldenaires Senior Citizens will pray at 4 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 5 p.m.

Judith Hoppe was born September 14, 1951 in St. Cloud to John and Adeline (Kohorst) Burg. On May 20, 1972 she married Francis B. Hoppe in St. Martin. The couple farmed on the family farm near New Munich. After Francis passed away, Judy continued farming for several more years while working at the Albany Area Hospital as a nurse's aide. Judy always felt the need to help others and she did that through volunteering at several places in the surrounding communities. She had strong faith and a big heart that will be greatly missed. Judy enjoyed sewing, helping on the farm and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport.

Survivors include her children, Tracy (Greg) Hoppe-Faber of Albany, Trudi Hoppe of Albany, Trisha Hoppe (fiancé, Matt Hellermann) of Grey Eagle, Chase (Stacy) Hoppe of New Munich and Christopher Hoppe of St. Martin; grandchildren, Brittney Thelen, Brianna Hoppe, Owen Hoppe, Holly Jacobs, Nora Mergen, Dominic and Alex Hoppe and Elizabeth Hellermann; brothers and sisters, Joe (Shirley) Burg of Avon, Jack (Leora) Burg of Albany, Diane Metzger of St. Cloud, Doris (Donald) Thyen of Pierz, Tom (Debbie) Burg of Richmond, Roseanne Brutger of St. Cloud, Gladys (Larry) Lester of St. Cloud, Denise (Dave) Kulzer of Albany and Jeff (Peggy) Burg of Rockville.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis Hoppe in November of 1986; children, Tina, Amy, Francis, Jr., Benedict and Chad Hoppe.

Serving as casket bearers will be John Burg, Jacob Kulzer, Heath Burg, Peter Metzger, Shawn Hoppe and Adam Burg. Serving as cross bearer will be Becky Voller and scripture bearer will be Doris Thyen. Honorary bearers will be Helen Nissen, Helen Zelmer, Jane Klein, Patty Brake, Roslyn Hensrud, Ruth Schlangen, Beverly Nett, Jan Berscheid, Julie Olmscheid and Audrey Roering.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
