Judith N. “Judy” Bailey, age 69 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at her home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Marty Porter officiating. Interment will be held in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Judith Nan Grythe was born February 25, 1950 in Grey Eagle, Minnesota to Ervin and Faye (Buchan) Grythe. She lived on a farm near Grey Eagle and moved to Sauk Centre where she attended country school. Judy moved to St. Paul and graduated from Harding High School. She moved back to Sauk Centre in 1984 where she worked at the Palmer House, Rainbow Lodge, and the hotel until purchasing the Ding Dong Café in 1997. Judy owned and operated the Ding Dong Café until her retirement in 2017. During that time, she moved her mother to Sauk Centre to be her caretaker. After retirement, she loved taking care of her grandchildren.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Judy’s family was her life; everything she did revolved around her family. Judy would make a special dinner for each family member on their birthday. She enjoyed taking shopping trips to Alexandria and interacting with her customers. Judy was locally famous and known for her potato salad.
Survivors include her children, Lisa Bailey (significant other, Bob Ritter) of Sauk Centre, and Michael (Emily) Bailey of Sauk Centre; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Chase, Chelsy, Brandon, Sara, Hailee, and Lindsay; three great-grandchildren, Makenna, Brady, and Kade; brothers and sister, Dennis (Mary) Grythe of Sauk Centre, Darlene (Wayne) Rahn of St. Cloud, John (Barb) Grythe of Shoreview, Dale Grythe of Sauk Centre, and Danny (Marie) Grythe of Cottage Grove; and special friend, Mel Walter of Sauk Centre.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Troy Bailey; and nephew, Thomas Grythe.
Serving as casket bearers will be Corey Ritter, Shawn Grythe, Neal Grythe, Brandon Bailey, Chase Hendershot, and Ben Rosvold. Honorary bearers will be Brady Rieland, Kade Lemke, Matt Grythe, Keith Grythe, Tony Grythe, and Scott Herlund.
