Josephine Schrantz Heinzel, age 78 of Sauk Centre, died Friday, March 17, 2006 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 20 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider, Rev. Sylvester Kleinschmidt and Rev. Tim Wenzel will concelebrate with inurnment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Sauk Centre Seniors will pray at 4 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 5:15 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Josephine Heinzel was born March 12, 1928 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Leo and Johanna (Jennissen) Zehrer. She was a life long resident of Sauk Centre. On September 8, 1948 she married Bernard Schrantz at St. Paul's Catholic Church. They owned and operated Schrantz Shoe Box and Clothes Closet until 1988. Bernard died on March 8, 1988. She then owned and operated Sauk Centre Travel Agency from 1988 to 1994. On August 27, 1993 she married Clayton Heinzel at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church. Clayton died on November 23, 1997.Josephine was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, where she volunteered and was active in the Christian Mothers. She was also a member of Sauk Centre Seniors and a former member of St. Michael's Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include four children, Gary (JoAnn) Schrantz of Maple Grove, Greg (Antoinette) Schrantz of Shoreview, Kathy Schrantz of Willmar and Barb Schrantz of Knoxville, Tennessee; four granddaughters, Jane Schrantz, Julie Yarrington, Danielle and Gabrielle Schrantz; two grandsons, Jack and Pat Schrantz; brothers, Tony (Vi) Zehrer of Brooten and Kenneth Zehrer of Sauk Centre; and sister, Magdaline (John) Hovanec of Grand Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Johanna (Jennissen) Zehrer; husbands, Bernard Schrantz and Clayton Heinzel; brothers, Alphonse, Wilfred, Conrad and Joseph Zehrer.
Serving as urn bearers will be Tony and Kenneth Zehrer and Magdaline Hovanec. Cross bearers will be Jane Schrantz and Julie Yarrington and scripture bearers will be Danielle and Gabrielle Schrantz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to American Diabetes Association and American Heart Association.
