Joseph J. Weber, age 80 of Melrose, died Monday, January 2, 2006 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 6 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Joseph J. Weber was born May 11, 1925 in Roscoe, Minnesota to Barthel and Catherine (Mehr) Weber. He married Dorothy P. Koecheler on February 8, 1947 at St. Paul, Minnesota.Joseph was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Meadowlark Golf Course and a Charter member of the Melrose Ambulance Corps. Joe enjoyed life, golf, dancing and hunting.

Survivors include his son, Tom Weber of Brooklyn Park; brother, Jake Weber (Ede) of Glenwood; sister-in-law, Monnie Koecheler of West St. Paul, brother-in-law, Chuck Koecheler (Judy) of Ormond Beach, Florida. Also many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy P. Weber on June 14, 2000; brother, Tony Weber; and his parents.

Casket bearers will be Alan Wiener, David Weber, Duane Weber, Dennis Weber, Gary Weber and Jeff Sullivan. Cross bearer will be Dan Wiener and scripture bearer will be Pam Weber. Serving communion will be Judy Schneider. Gift bearers will be Aaron Wiener, Jessica Wiener and Jacob Martin. Lesson readers will be Mary Martin and Mary Jo Heine. Petitions will be read by Diane Weber and Mary Frances Brose. Honorary bearers will be Frank Klaphake, Dick West, Mike Schutz, Vincent Imdieke, Jim Chirhart, Connie Salzman, Vern Althaus, Nick Braegelman, Ralph Wessel, Joe Berscheit, Clete Scherer, Bernie Schad, Mike Braegelman, Clyde Tise, Erv Dettler, Clarence Gerads, John Whited and Jim Kvistad.
