John P. Spaeth, age 47, of Melrose, died from injuries sustained after a snowmobile accident on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 16 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose.
John Paul Spaeth was born November 9, 1962 in Melrose, Minnesota to Allen and Elizabeth (Olmscheid) Spaeth. He attended Melrose High School. He worked at various places including Fingerhut for many years, Spee Dee Delivery as a mechanic, and currently at Spaeth Sodding and Landscaping. John was a true outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating and water skiing. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose.
Survivors include his children, Eric (Nikki) Spaeth of Long Prairie, Aaron Spaeth of Avon, and Jared Spaeth of Alexandria; three grandchildren, Madison, Rylan and Natalie Spaeth all at home; significant other, Beth Nelson and her son, Noah Nelson; brothers and sisters, Mark Spaeth of Big Spring, TX, Tom Spaeth of Melrose, Brenda (Jeff) Zeis of Oak Grove, Cindy (Todd) Lenarz of Milaca and Chris Spaeth of Little Canada.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Elizabeth Spaeth; grandparents, Edward and Susan Olmscheid and Henry and Rose Spaeth; nephew, Lee Spaeth; and many aunts and uncles.
Serving as casket bearers will be Chris Housman, Jeff Wensmann, Pat Rothfork, Rick Spaeth, Rueben Danzl, and Jeff Zies. Cross bearer will be Jason Spaeth and scripture bearer will be Justin Zies.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
