JoAnn Motzko, age 87 of Sauk Centre, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 30 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Alexandria, Minnesota following the luncheon.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 5:15 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Harriet JoAnn Motzko was born July 15, 1922 in Alexandria, Minnesota to Austin and Nellie (Carlson) Halstead. She was united in marriage to Edmund "Butch" Motzko on January 14, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria, Minnesota. The couple lived in Alexandria until 1958, when they moved to Sauk Centre. JoAnn worked as a bookkeeper for Bushey Drug in Sauk Centre for many years. JoAnn loved any type of card game but especially enjoyed being a part of her Bridge Club. She also enjoyed traveling and golfing with her husband. JoAnn was a gifted shopper and took frequent trips to Alexandria where she would meet with her sisters for lunch. Most of JoAnn's joy came from her grandchildren.

JoAnn was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and Daughters of Isabella.JoAnn is survived by her husband, Edmund "Butch" Motzko of Sauk Centre; children, Steve (Kay) Motzko of Bemidji and Mary Kay (Terry) Keenan of Pennock; six grandchildren, Matt (Misty) Motzko, Stacie (James) Goodrich, Joe (fiancé Lauren Karis) Motzko, Katie Keenan, Kristie Keenan, and Kevin Keenan; three great-grandchildren, William, Logan, and Landon; sister, LaNelle (Arnold) Brockman of California; step-brother, Stanley Johnson; step-sister, Lucille Miller; sisters-in-law, Irma Halstead and Fern Halstead.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Irene Halstead, Beatrice Wohler, Bill Halstead, AdaBelle Klein, Harry Halstead, and R'Lou Olson.

Serving as urn bearer will be her grandson, Matt Motzko. Cross bearer will be her granddaughter, Katie Keenan and scripture bearer will be her grandson, Kevin Keenan. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Michael's Nursing Home.
