Jerome J. Pundsack, age 90 of Melrose, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Belgrade Nursing Home in Belgrade, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 23 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. St. Rosa Lions will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Sunday evening.

Jerome John Pundsack was born March 4, 1925 in New Munich, Minnesota to Henry and Cecelia (Wehsler) Pundsack. On February 20, 1950 he married Clara Voller at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Ward Springs. The couple farmed southeast of New Munich until 1971 when they moved to St. Rosa. They owned and operated St. Rosa General Store from 1971 to 1989. The couple retired in 1989 and moved to Melrose. Jerome worked for the City of Melrose doing maintenance work for over 15 years. He enjoyed joking with his city workers, playing cards, and having a drink with his friends.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose and the St. Rosa Lions.

Survivors include his children, Doris Kroska of St. Cloud, Allen (girlfriend, Rhonda Hjelle) of Ward Springs, Linda (Steve) Pundsack-Proell of St. Cloud, Jim (Judy) of St. Rosa, Glenn (JoAnn) of St. Rosa, Susan (Jim) Goshinska of Montgomery, TX, Brian (Cindi) of Fairmont, WV, Loren (fiancé, Lynn Hiltner) of Melrose, Ervin of Winsted, and Jason (Amy) of Shoreview; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Olivia "Lefa" Schwieters of Melrose and Jeanette (Gene) Toenies of Cold Spring; and sister-in-law, Dolores Pundsack of Melrose.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clara Pundsack on January 10, 2014; daughter, Helen Pundsack; grandchildren, Cindy Stancil and Douglas Stancil; brothers, Ben "Benny", Joe, Donald, and Elmer Pundsack; sisters, Julitta Blommel, Eileen Lauer, Rose "Rosie" Schwieters, Sister Marie Wimmer, O.S.B., Caroline Mayer, Theresa Pundsack, Olivia Pundsack, and Margie Kenstad.

Serving as casket bearers will be Eric Gaetz, Austin, Shawn, Nathan, Jay, and Kyle Pundsack. Cross bearer will be A. J. Pundsack and scripture bearer will be Seth Pundsack. Gift bearers will be Cecelia and Alaina Pundsack. Readers will be Kathy Wilke, Jason, and Brian Pundsack. Honorary bearers will be the St. Rosa Lions.
