Jerome A. Lemm, age 92 of New Munich, died of complications from cancer on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 10 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. St. Joseph's Men's Society and the New Munich Lions will pray at 5 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Jerome Alphonse Lemm was born September 6, 1921 in New Munich, Minnesota to Wendelin and Helen (Adrian) Lemm. On September 8, 1948 he was united in marriage to Bernadette "Bernie" Uphoff at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. Jerome was a lifelong resident of the New Munich area where he spent over 50 years farming, owning and operating Lemm's Tax Service, and also was employed at Worms Lumber and Ready Mix.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, St. Joseph's Men's Society, New Munich Lions, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in St. Cloud. Jerome was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, fishing, feeding the birds, and volunteering at Meals on Wheels delivering meals. He liked watching Minnesota Twins baseball and playing cards with his friends. Jerome loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Sharon (Bill) Beckers of New Munich, Pat (Darrell) Winter of Lakeville, Ken (Kathy) Lemm of Melrose, Rick (Diane) Lemm of Melrose, Karl (Ruth) Lemm of Melrose, Lisa (Duane) May of St. Stephen, and Steve Lemm of Melrose; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette Lemm on July 24, 2010; parents; son, Paul Lemm; great-grandson, Levi Lemm; brothers, Donald Lemm and Richard Lemm; and sisters, Evelyn Sakry and Lavina Morin.
Serving as casket bearers will be Shawn Beckers, Kyle Winter, Chad Lemm, Brad Lemm, David Lemm, Collin May, and Logan May. Cross bearer will be Lila Fouquette and scripture bearer will be Tessa Wohletz. Honorary bearers will be the St. Joseph's Men's Society and the New Munich Lions.
