Jean M. Ellison, age 80 of Bloomington, Minnesota died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family Thursday, December 9, 2010 after a short battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 14 at the Church of the Nativity of Mary, 9900 Lyndale Avenue South in Bloomington with Rev. Steve Ulrick officiating. Private interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Jean Marilyn Bastyr was born April 2, 1930 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Frank and Mabel (Johnson) Bastyr. She was a 1949 graduate of Washburn High School. On June 9, 1951 she married Paul Ellison at the Church of the Incarnation in Minneapolis. The couple resided in Richfield before moving to the home they built in Southbrook on Nine Mile Creek in Bloomington in 1963, where she had lived for the past 47 years.
She was a long-time member of the Church of the Nativity of Mary and Minnesota Valley Country Club. She was an avid bridge player and in her younger years she enjoyed bowling and golfing.
Survivors include three children, Mike (Pat) Ellison of St. Louis Park, Sue (Pat) Patton of Sauk Centre, and Jim (Ann) Ellison of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Nathan (Heather) Patton, Adam Patton, Jo (Evan) Wilcox, Christopher, Andrew, and Joseph Ellison; twin sister, Joan Bros of Bloomington; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Ellison on June 14, 1988; parents.
Serving as casket bearers will be her grandchildren.Jean's family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Fairview Hospice and the many volunteers who sat with her for their caring and kindness.
