Janet M. "Jan" Adams, age 82 of Long Prairie, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at CentraCare Health Hospital in Long Prairie, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Sauk Centre. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Janet Marie Jensen was born January 23, 1931 in Sioux City, Iowa to Chris "Chick" and Cecilia Marie (Christiansen) Jensen. In 1949 she married Jerome Maier in Long Prairie, Minnesota. They moved from Long Prairie to Laporte, Minnesota, and then onto Whitefish, Montana, where their first daughter Pamela Joy was born in 1958. They also lived in Turkey, France, Morocco, and England. Jerome passed away in 1966. In 1966 Jan married Robert "Bob" Adams in England. Their second daughter Elisha was born in 1967 in New Market, England. Jan enjoyed being a swimming instructor and owned the Long Prairie Roller Skating Rink with Bob for several years. She also enjoyed reading the Bible, swimming, playing cribbage, gardening, and spending time with her family, friends, and many pets.
Jan was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on September 4, 1993. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, she was an avid student of the Bible and enjoyed sharing her faith with others. She was an active member of the Sauk Centre congregation.
Survivors include her daughters, Pamela (Redginald) Lambrecht of Long Prairie, and Elisha Adams of Sauk Centre; brother, Jack Jenson of Nashville, TN; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jerome Maier on March 18, 1966 and Robert Adams on May 1, 1981; and 2 great-grandsons.
