James Leo Determan was born November 12, 1945 in Melrose, Minnesota to Joseph and Dola (Grundman) Determan. He worked at various places including Sauk Centre Ready Mix, Sauk Centre Tire, and Bayer Built in Sauk Centre. Jim was a jack-of-all trades and could fix anything. If he could not fix it, then it was truly broken. He was also the kind of friend that would lend a hand whenever needed, the first to come and the last to leave. Jim was an amazingly loving father and friend. He will be dearly and greatly missed.
Jim enjoyed car racing, snowmobile racing, hunting, fishing, and was a true outdoorsman. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and the Bishop Busch Council #4863 Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his daughter, Rachel Determan-Bartz and her husband, Jamie Bartz of Waite Park; ex-wife, Kathy Gibson and her husband, Bart of South Haven; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and one nephew.
Serving as casket bearers will be Mark Wanderscheid, David Wanderscheid, P.J. Wanderscheid, Brian Wanderscheid, Jeremy Kerzman, and Rick Moritz. Honorary bearers will be Mitch Bock, B.J. Merten, and Jim's neighbors and racing family.
