James Clear

James W. "Jim" Clear, age 79, of Grey Eagle, died Sunday, October 22, 2006 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 25 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Tibbetts officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Grey Eagle.

Friends may call from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Grey Eagle and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle.

Jim Clear was born October 3, 1927 in Grey Eagle Township, Todd County, Minnesota to James W. "Walt" and Edith (Osborne) Clear. On November 4, 1959, he married Gloria Canfield and farmed near Grey Eagle. Jim served on the Grey Eagle Township Board for over 25 years. Family was very important to Jim. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends and sharing a good story. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and collecting agates. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle.

He is survived by his children, Marilyn Steinemann and her husband, Norb of Little Falls, Shirley Nies and her husband, Jim of Grey Eagle, Bonnie Clear of Grey Eagle, and Jamie Clear and his wife, Char of Brooklyn Park; ten grandchildren, Fallon, Meghan, Shaun, Adam, Alex, Kendra, Kirsten, Michael, Travis, and Justin; three great grandchildren, Alexis, Trini, and Destini; sister, Mildred Lekberg of Swanville, and brother, George Clear of Burtrum.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria Clear on February 28, 1978; daughters, Wendy Clear-Goodale and Susan Froemming; granddaughter, Kaycie Nies; brothers, Harold, Bob, and Ken Clear; and sisters, Frances, Dorothy, Viola, Gertrude "Pat", and Joyce.

Serving as casket bearers will be Shaun Roering, Adam Roering, Alex Steinemann, Travis Hatlestad, Michael Nies, and Justin Goodale. Serving as honorary bearers will be Meghan Froemming, Kirsten Nies, Kendra Nies, and Fallon Froemming.
