James H. Voth, age 62, of Sauk Centre and formerly of New Ulm, died November 30, 2008 in an automobile accident.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 700 South Broadway, New Ulm, MN.
He was born April 25, 1946 in Mountain Lake, MN, to Henry J. and Charlotte Voth. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1964 and continued his education at Mankato Vocational studying electronics. He and Barb Mau were married in June of 1967. He continued his electronics education in the United States Air Force, where he served in Thailand from 1968 through 1970, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his honorable discharge, he worked for Telex in Blue Earth for two years. He began working for Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M) in New Ulm in 1973, earned an Electrical Engineering degree, and was awarded four United States patents during his 32 years with the company. He retired to his dream lake home near Sauk Centre in 2005. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, woodworking, and home improvement projects. He enjoyed family get-togethers, particularly Christmas.
James is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barb, and his sons David (and wife Karen, son Kevin and fiancé Cynthia) and Aaron (and his fiancé Linda Johnson and daughters Chelsey and Carly). He is also survived by his brothers Paul (and wife Deanna) and Richard. Other survivors include his mother-in-law Doris Mau, brother-in-law Steve, sisters-in-law Marilyn (and husband Bob Timm) and Sharon (and husband Elton Rhoda), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Ruben.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that contributions be made to the James Voth Memorial Fund with Wells Fargo, or the charity or organization of the giver's choice.
