James N. "Jim" Stockman, age 77 of Melrose died Sunday, August 28, 2005 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 1 at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose with Rev. Ken Wood officiating. Military honors provided by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 to 11 a.m. at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Melrose Veterans Honor Guard will pray at 7 p.m.
James Stockman was born December 29, 1927 in Cresco, Iowa to Fred and June (Mitchell) Stockman. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, Korean Conflict and World War II. He held the ranks of Corporal and Sergeant until retiring from the Army in 1969. He was employed at Kraft East in Melrose. Jim was a member of Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 and American Legion Post 101. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
Survivors include his sons, Michael Stockman and his wife, Doreen of Minneapolis, Patrick Stockman of Minneapolis and Shaun Stockman of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Raine Remy de Campeau and her husband, Christoph, Lauryn Stockman and Cassidy Stockman; and sister, Gloria Borchert of Baudette.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Madeline Ripka.
