James Reckoff

James E. Reckoff, age 83 of Sauk Centre, died Monday, October 18, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 21 at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors provided by the Little Sauk American Legion.

Friends may call at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre two hours prior to the service.

James Emmert Reckoff was born May 31, 1927 in Primghar, Iowa to Emmert and Frances (Steurmann) Reckoff. On October 21, 1973 he married Agnes Ufkin in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple resided in Panorama City, California where Jim had worked as a truck driver for Studio City Mayflower Moving & Storage, the company which he later owned and operated. In 1984 he sold the business and moved to Sauk Centre where he and Agnes built their home on Sauk Lake. Jim loved wood working and built the cabinets for his new home. He also enjoyed making rocking horses, cradles, chairs, and swings for his grandchildren. Jim loved to read, work crossword puzzles, play Trivial Pursuit, and watch sports.

Jim was a member of the Little Sauk American Legion, Teamsters, and has been a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.

Survivors include his children and step-children, Pegi (James) Webster of Minden, Nevada, Kathy (Denny) Fletcher and Barb (Phil) Pfieffer, Shirley Bishop, LeaAnn (Dennis) Lyon, all of Sauk Centre and, Ron Ufkin of Little Falls; 14 grandchildren, Jamie Lyn Webster, Christopher James Emmert Webster, Shawn (Stacie) Fletcher, Wendy Fletcher, Autumn (Greg Brown) Fletcher, Shane (Heather) Pfieffer, Zachary (Sarah) Pfieffer, Afton Pfieffer, Kelly (Todd) Evans, Robert (Pam) Gierke, Melissa Lyon, Kim Lyon, Jason (Brandy) Lyon, Sarah (Travis) Redetzke; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes Reckoff on January 9, 2004; two infant great-granddaughters, Alexis Ann Lawrence and Izabella Paige Fletcher; sister Ione; and brothers, Bill and Dick.

Serving as casket bearers will be Shane Pfieffer, Zachary Pfieffer, Shawn Fletcher, Jason Lyon, Robert Gierke, and Travis Redetzke. Honorary bearers will be members of the Little Sauk American Legion.
