James Merrell

James R. "Jim" Merrell, age 56 of Sauk Centre, died Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Eagle's Healing Nest in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, July 8 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Interment with military honors will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley, Minnesota.

Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

James Richard Merrell was born January 29, 1958 in Decatur, Alabama to Jimmy and Jearldeane (Broadway) Merrell. He served four years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1981. For the past year he had resided at the Eagle's Healing Nest in Sauk Centre, where he was known for making popcorn every morning for the residents and staff. He also enjoyed watching television and birds and visiting with other veterans.

He is survived by his brothers-in-arms and the Eagle's Healing Nest family.
