James W. "Jim" Koehn, age 58, of Long Prairie, died peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital after a short battle with cancer and a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 22 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melrose with Rev. Marty Porter officiating. Interment will be at Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery in Dresden, North Dakota on Saturday, April 25 at 2 p.m.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church in Melrose.
James William Koehn was born September 25, 1956 in Langdon, North Dakota to Theodore and Doris (Klein) Koehn. He attended Dresden Country School until the 4th grade and graduated from Langdon High School in 1975. He worked at National T. Grocery Store in Langdon for several years. In 1976 his family moved to Long Prairie. Jim worked various jobs before working at Electrolux in St. Cloud for 32 years. He quit working after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2008. Jim was a man of faith. He read his bible often and could quote many bible verses. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melrose.
Jim enjoyed riding 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, and motorcycles. He could ride a wheelie on his motorcycle for miles. He was also the founder and creator of the "party cabin" in the woods.
Survivors include his parents, Ted and Doris Koehn of Long Prairie; brothers, Jerome (Missy) Koehn and Jeff Koehn all of Long Prairie; sister, Nancy (Dan "Bubba") Rahn of Grey Eagle; nephews and niece, Josh (fiancé, Tonie Scholz) and Tyler Koehn, and Nathan and Amber Rahn; aunts and uncles, Ervin Klein of Albany, Arlene Landowski of Albany, Janet Cigelske of Hewitt, Carole (Jerry) Rodenwald of Albany, Sharon Lehner of Albany, and Gladys Koehn of Salem, OR.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.
Serving as casket bearers will be Josh Koehn, Tyler Koehn, Nathan Rahn, Amber Rahn, Jeff Koehn, and Jerome Koehn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
