James R. "Jim" Bailey, age 72 of Richfield, formerly of Grey Eagle, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at his home in Richfield, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Mark Willenbring officiating. A private interment will be held in the parish cemetery at a later date. Military Honors provided by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Parish prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the church.
James "Jim" Bailey was born April 14, 1936 in Grey Eagle, Minnesota to Ralph and Irene (Bluth) Bailey. Jim served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years after graduating high school. He was united in marriage to Patricia "Pat" Platt on July 1, 1969 in Buffalo, Minnesota. Jim was employed at Honeywell for 38 years until his retirement in 1996. Jim and Pat resided in Richfield, Minnesota, but after Jim's retirement, he would spend the summer months at the cabin on Swan Lake.He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle and the American Legion in Richfield. He loved spending time outdoors, especially gardening, hunting, fishing, and walking the dog. He also liked watching westerns and going to the casino.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bailey of Richfield; children, James Bailey Jr. of Coon Rapids and Brenda Robertson of Bemidji; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Blue and Bonnie Hannah; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Irene Bailey; and an infant brother.
