Jack Moening

Jack H. Moening, age 75, of Melrose, died peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Melrose Area Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church in Melrose.

Jack Moening was born July 24, 1934 in Melrose, Minnesota to Bernard and Frances (Althaus) Moening. On August 30, 1958 he married Alice Schreifels at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Jack worked for Kraft Foods in Melrose for 15 years, Univac in Minneapolis for 5 years, and Jennie-O Foods in Melrose for 25 years; retiring in 1993. During his retirement, he worked at Big Spunk and Little Spunk rest areas in Avon. Jack was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. He enjoyed bowling, watching the MN Twins, and going to high school sporting events, particularly when the Dutchmen played.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Moening of Melrose; children, Randy (Sue) Moening of Melrose, Dan (Melinda) Moening of Melrose, Rick (Janel) Moening of Melrose, and Lisa (Brian) Wensmann of Bowlus; and eight grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Moening; brother, Gene Moening; and sister-in-law, Karen Moening.

Serving as casket bearers will be Brett Moening, Amy Moening, Mitchell Moening, Brandon Cruz, Brandon Wensmann, and Brian Moening. Serving as cross bearer will be Miranda Wensmann and scripture bearer will be Cody Wensmann. Honorary bearers will be Duane Hinnenkamp, Ron Tieman, Ed Toenies, and Tom Hiltner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
