Isaiah Lewis

Isaiah R. Lewis, age 12 of Melrose, died unexpectedly after a brief illness on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College in Richmond, Virginia, while visiting his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melrose with Rev. Kevin Mann officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Isaiah Raheim Lewis was born December 6, 1999 in Melrose, Minnesota to Raheim and Cara (Degeest) Lewis. He was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melrose and was looking forward to starting confirmation classes. Isaiah knew God and loved God very much. He completed through the sixth grade at the Melrose Public School. Isaiah was full of life - he loved everybody and everything. He enjoyed art, music, science and nature. Isaiah had a wonderful sense of humor and was a jokester - he loved making people laugh... and knew how to push people's buttons too. He loved chocolate and grandma's crazy cake. Isaiah was an extremely loving person who was able to see the good in everyone.

Survivors include his parents, Raheim and Cara (Degeest) Lewis of Melrose; siblings, Zachary, Haley, and Jasmine Lewis; grandparents, Larry and Voni (Shuck) Degeest of Melrose, Deborah Nunnally-Blowe and Keith Blowe of Sussex, Virginia, and George Lewis; great-grandmother, Eleanor (Degeest) Hellevang of Spicer; aunts and uncles, Seth and Michele Degeest of Forest Lake, Brian and Amanda (Degeest) Lopau of St. Joseph, Zenobia and Carlos Williams of Washington, D.C., Neil Lewis of Washington, D.C., and Ian Blowe of Virginia; and many great-uncles and aunts, cousins, and friends
