Irene F. Sunderman, age 77 of Sauk Centre, died unexpectedly from complications of a stroke on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 2 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Fr. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Irene Frances Lieser was born July 30, 1940 in Melrose, Minnesota, to Leo and Eleanor (Wuertz) Lieser. She graduated from Melrose High School in 1958. On August 17, 1963 she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Sunderman at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Irene worked for the Sauk Centre Public School for over two decades. She was a member of the Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church. Irene enjoyed playing cards and dominos with her friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim (Scott) Ruppert of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Jake and Nicole Ruppert; and sisters, Lillian (Walter) Welle of Detroit Lakes and Mary Ann (Eldred) Athmann of St. Cloud.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Sunderman on March 7, 2013; parents; sister, Elaine Hoff; brother, Matt Lieser; and infant brothers, Irvin and Neil Lieser.
