Irene A. Schulzetenberg, age 91 of Sauk Centre, died after a long illness on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 20 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Irene Ann Schulzetenberg was born May 29, 1920 in St. Martin, Minnesota to Nicholas and Rose (Kollmann) Moscho. Irene (meaning peace) and Ann (patron saint of seamstresses) was well chosen in that it mirrored her lifelong desires and interests. She grew up in St. Martin until age 23. On October 5, 1943 she married Edmund A. Schulzetenberg in St. Martin. Together they built their lives on a dairy farm north west of Meire Grove rearing four daughters Carol, Sherry, Sandy and Mary. Irene defined herself as a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. Irene was a talented seamstress which manifested itself in her volunteer work for the St. John's Sewing Guild of Meire Grove and sewing for her four daughters. She possessed a strong work ethic and strived for perfection in all her endeavors. Irene appreciated music, especially ballroom and square dancing which were favorite activities as a young woman and later in her marriage.
Irene was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, The Christian Mothers, and St. Ann's Mission Group of Meire Grove.
Survivors include her daughters; Carol (Robert) Webster of Delmar, NY, Sherry Dibble-Sprague (David Sprague) of Plymouth, Sandy (Dale) Thielen of Minnetonka, and Mary (Dave) Johnsen of Plymouth; 6 grandchildren, Sarah (Byron) Moss of Atlanta, GA, Bryan (Joyce) Webster of Chicago, Ill., Michael (Sarah) Dibble of Maple Grove, Rachel Dibble (Billy Richie) of Maple Plain, Ryan Johnsen of Plymouth, Natalie Johnsen of Plymouth; great-granddaughter, Madeleine Rose Webster of Chicago, Ill., sisters; Catherine Funk of Albany, Rosemary Hinnenkamp of Brooten and Virginia (Virgil) Fuchs of Paynesville; sisters-in-law, Betty Moscho of St. Martin and Leona Moscho of Melrose.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on April 12, 2009; brothers and sister, Wilfred Moscho, Joe Moscho, Marie Klassen and Nicholas Moscho, Jr.; sister-in-laws, Marie Moscho, and Lorraine Moscho; brothers-in-law, Al Klassen, Tony Funk and Hubert Hinnenkamp.
Serving as casket bearers will be Robert Webster, David Sprague, Dale Thielen, Dave Johnsen, Bryan Webster, Byron Moss, Michael Dibble, Ryan Johnsen. The cross bearer will be Rachel Dibble , the scripture bearer will be Natalie Johnsen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mother of Mercy Nursing Home of Albany.
