Irene T. Remjeske, age 79 of Melrose died Saturday, September 4, 2004 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose after a battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 8 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melrose with Rev. Steve Hayden officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church in Melrose.
Irene was born November 15, 1924 in Krain Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Henry and Ella (Hammann) Eggert. She was united in marriage to Donald E. Remjeske on September 6, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melrose and Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Donald Remjeske, Jr. and his friend, Mary Jablonecki of Fridley, Dennis Remjeske of Lakeville, David Remjeske and his wife, Sue of Coon Rapids, and Beverly Denny of Coon Rapids; five grandchildren, Angie, Eric, Tracy, Kristine and Cory; and three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Bennett and baby due in November.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ella Eggert; husband, Donald E. Remjeske on May 7, 1994; brothers, Albert, Art, Clarence and Elmer Eggert; and sister, Edna Eggert.
Serving as casket bearers will be Donald Remjeske, Dennis Remjeske, David Remjeske, Jr., Eric Remjeske, Butch Thull and James Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melrose.
