Innocent Hellmann

Innocent A. "Inno" Hellmann, 81, of Melrose died unexpectedly Sunday, July 24, 2005 at the Melrose Area Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. July 28, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Grey Eagle, Minnesota.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 to10:00 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Melrose Senior Citizens will pray at 4:30 pm followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Melrose.

Innocent Hellmann was born September 11, 1923 in Farming Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Bernard and Helena (Holthaus) Hellmann. He was united in marriage to Margaret M. Arceneau on October 9, 1945 at St. Martin, Minnesota. They farmed for 5 years in Elrosa and then for 35 years in Grey Eagle. They retired and moved to Melrose where Inno worked for the Melrose School District for several years. Inno was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Melrose Senior Citizens. He enjoyed playing cards and listening to old time music.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Hellmann of Melrose; 7 children, Helen Boecker (Edmund) of Grey Eagle, Jane Kalthoff (Joseph) of Albany, Ronald Hellmann (Vicki) of Melrose, Larry Hellmann (Lori) of Grey Eagle, Thom Hellmann (Diana) of Oshkosh, WI, Michael Hellmann (Laura) of Melrose and Mary Kay Graves (Kevin) of Grey Eagle; brother, John Hellmann (Milda) of West Palm Beach, FL; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Helena Hellmann; brothers, Joe and Paul Hellmann and one grandson, John Boecker.

Casket bearers will be Travis Graves, Trent Graves, Jessie Hellmann, Joshua Hellmann, Jim Kalthoff, Paul Hellmann, and Nathan Thielen. Cross bearer will be Trisha Graves and scripture bearer will be Jordan Thielen.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to MCCL.
