Howard B. Roe, 87, of Grey Eagle, died suddenly of natural causes on Wednesday, February 16 in Burnhamville Township, Todd County, MN.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2005 at the United Methodist Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Barbara Lindgren. Inurnment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery with military honors by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church in Grey Eagle.
Howard Roe was born February 17, 1917 in Grey Eagle Township, Todd County, MN to Barnett and Blanche (Fuller) Roe. Howard was a graduate of the Grey Eagle High School. He was united in marriage to Orva Mills on June 12, 1941 in Whipholt, MN. From 1942-1945 he served in the U.S. Navy submarine service during World War II. He was employed with the St. Cloud Carpenters Local Union. He farmed near the Grey Eagle area. Howard was a member of United Methodist Church in Grey Eagle, the Grey Eagle Legion Club, Grey Eagle School Board and Town Board for 15 years, Church Council, and Creamery Board. He enjoyed spear fishing, hunting and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Orva Roe of Grey Eagle; children, Charlotte Berg (Roy) of Aitkin, Thomas Roe (Cathy) of Grey Eagle, John Roe (Janet) of Grey Eagle, Nola Warnert of Flower Mound, TX, Loren Roe (Susan) of Grey Eagle, Mark Roe (Mary Beth) of Downingtown, PA, and Alan Roe (Charlotte) of Grey Eagle; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Hillegonds; and brothers, Stanley Roe and Roland Roe.
Urn bearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary bearers will be Art Johnson, Cindy Johnson, Pete Reimers, Bob Masters, Marion Menge, and Rev. Rodger Schmidt.
