Howard Adams

Howard G. "Duke" Adams, age 81 of New Munich, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the CentraCare Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 15 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Howard Gerard Adams was born May 30, 1933 in Melrose, Minnesota to Ted and Veronica (Briol) Adams. He graduated from Melrose High School. On April 26, 1958 he was united in marriage to Lois Stangler at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Duke was a diesel mechanic who was employed by Olson Trucking for 15 years and was employed at the hot mix plant in Forest Lake for 30 years, retiring in 2002.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, Immaculate Conception United Financial and St. Leo Court 786 Catholic Order of Foresters. Duke enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting wood, and gardening.

Survivors include his children, Jeff (Kathy) Adams of Sauk Centre, Brenda (Jim) Thomes of Long Prairie, Amy (Ron, Jr.) Dingmann of Freeport, and Kelly (Donald) Vornbrock of Freeport; ten grandchildren; and sisters, Lori (Bill) Young of Lakeland, Florida, Linda (Barry) Cook of La Quinta, California, and Doris (Bruce) Samuelson of New Munich/Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Adams on December 18, 2004; parents; brothers, Floyd Adams and Harvey Adams; sister, Shirley Adams; and sister-in-law, Mickey Adams.

Serving as urn bearer will be Michael Vornbrock. Cross bearer will be Dylan Thomes and scripture bearer will be Alisha Vornbrock. Honorary bearers will be Nicholas Adams, Morgan Adams, Marissa Thomes, Amber Vornbrock, Courtney Dingmann, Tristan Dingmann, and Justin Dingmann.
