Hildegard Petermeier

Hildegard W. Petermeier, age 97 of Watkins, formerly Sauk Centre and Melrose, died Friday, January 8, 2010 at Hilltop Care Center in Watkins, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 12 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz and Rev. Virgil Braun concelebrating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from one hour prior to the service at church.

Hildegard Wilhelmina Eibensteiner was born June 2, 1912 in Meire Grove Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Joseph and Anna (Kampsen) Eibensteiner. On May 21, 1930 she was united in marriage to John H. Petermeier at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove. The couple farmed near Sauk Centre and then in Melrose Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. After retiring in 1952, the couple moved to Sauk Centre. In November 1989 they moved to Park View Care Center in Melrose. In October of 2008, Hilda moved to Hilltop Care Center in Watkins, Minnesota.Hilda was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, the Christian Mothers, and the Sauk Centre Seniors.

Survivors include her children, Verena (Bob) Nelson of St. Paul, Alma (John) Speldrich of Cathedral City, California, Bertha (Jerry) Weinmann of Watkins, Dorothy (Mike) Stuart of Santa Rosa, California, and David Petermeier of Anoka; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sr. LaVonne Eibensteiner, OSB of St. Cloud; brothers, Werner (Lucille) Eibensteiner of Sauk Centre and Br. Gregory Eibensteiner, OSB of Collegeville.

Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Petermeier on September 30, 1991; infant daughter; brother, Hugo Eibensteiner; sisters, Leona Bentfield, Frieda Winter, Selma Stalberger, Rita Stalberger, Mildred Welle, Florentine Waltz, and Elsie Felling.

Serving as casket bearers will be Jim Weinmann, Aaron Petermeier, Troy Petermeier, John Speldrich, Jr., Mark Speldrich, and Jerry Weinmann, Jr. Cross bearer will be Jolina Speldrich.
