Hildegard C. "Hilda" Bertram, age 96 of Greenwald, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the CentraCare Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 20 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald with Rev. Omar Guanchez officiating and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be held at 4 p.m. followed by the Christian Women at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Hildegard Catherine Wuertz was born August 5, 1917 in Lake Henry, Minnesota to Joseph and Mary (Kortonbush) Wuertz. Hilda completed school through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Nickolas Bertram on June 13, 1939 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Lake Henry. Hilda was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family. She was a resident of Pine Villa for the past five years. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald and St. Ann's Christian Women. Hilda enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, playing cards, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Jane (Bernard) Meyer of Sauk Centre, Vivian (Joe) Weber of Sauk Centre, Ginger (Donnie) Winter of Cold Spring, Bonnie (Jim) Kampsen of Melrose, Dave (Joyce) Bertram of Melrose, Bob Bertram (Marlane) of Pine River, Jan (Frank) Imdieke of Melrose, Dennis (Mona) Bertram of Belgrade, Herb Bertram of Maple Grove, Lucia (Arlan) Albrecht of Stetsonville, Wisconsin, and Mona (Steve) Schoenberg of Melrose; 26 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Isabel Spanier of Albany and Margaret (Gilbert) Hagemier of Farming; and brothers, Wilbert (Sis) Wuertz of Cold Spring and Roman (Lila) Wuertz of Laurel, Montana.
Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Nickolas Bertram on April 30, 1993; grandson, Bob Weber on December 21, 2011; great-granddaughter, Hannah Weber on March 27, 1995; brothers and sisters, Norbert Wuertz, Tony Wuertz, Ralph Wuertz, Alma Wenker, Rose Chladek, Helen Garding, and Adella Spanier.
Serving as casket bearers will be James Kampsen, Jr., Keith Bertram, Dale Bertram, Patrick Imdieke, Nathan Bertram, and Dan Meyer. Cross bearer will be Nancy Winter and scripture bearer will be Aaron Albrecht. Honorary bearers will be St. Ann's Christian Women. Gift bearers will be Heather Schoenberg, Brianna Silbernick, and Lisa Winter. Lectors will be Deb Nathe and Tom Nathe.
