Herman A. “Hermie” Hinnenkamp, age 94 of Melrose passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Cura Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.
No church service will be held. Prayers and military honors will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota.
Herman Albert Hinnenkamp was born December 18, 1929 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Herman and Margaret (Buschmann) Hinnenkamp. Herman graduated from Melrose High School and helped his dad farm until he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge, he began farming in St. Wendell Township for about four years before returning to the Hinnenkamp home farm in Melrose where he farmed until 1994 when he retired and moved to town.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose. Herman enjoyed farming, gardening, traveling, agriculture, and “killing time”, especially on the computer.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Carol Hinnenkamp of Maple Lake, sister-in-law, Luella Hinnenkamp of Brooklyn Center; and many nieces and nephews.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Rosella Wieber, Erwin Hinnenkamp, Lucille Loecken, Walter Hinnenkamp, Hildegard Knops, Luella Williams, Arthur Hinnenkamp, Margaret Eiynck, Virginia Caspers and Wilfred Hinnenkamp.
