Herbert B. "Herb" Seifermann, age 81 of Melrose, died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Melrose Area Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 3 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date in the parish cemetery. Military honors were provided by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be held at 6 p.m. followed by the Melrose Veterans Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Herbert Bernard Seifermann was born April 28, 1929 in Spring Hill Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Martin and Anna (Eichers) Seifermann. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. On June 2, 1956 he was united in marriage to Jane Klasen at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Herb worked many jobs throughout the area and retired from the Stearns County Highway Department after 26 years. He also drove the road grader for Millwood Township.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 101. Herb enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting wood, going to the casino, and his favorite was driving the road grader.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Seifermann of Melrose; children, Linda (John "Jack") Frieler of Melrose, David "Herbie" (Paulette "Bitz") Seifermann of Melrose, Nona (Roman) Vornbrock of Albany, and Edna Seifermann (Mike Oevermann) of St. Martin; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Sylvester Seifermann of Elrosa, Cel (Marcie) Seifermann of Melrose, Martin (Louise) Seifermann, Jr. of St. Cloud, Joe Seifermann of Spring Hill, and Al Seifermann of Morris.
Herb was preceded in death by parents, Martin, Sr. and Anna Seifermann; brother, Roman Seifermann; and sisters, Margaret Dingmann, Theresa Wuertz, and Loretta Seifermann.
Serving as casket bearers will be Michael Frieler, Christopher Frieler, Chad Frieler, Shane Seifermann, Angelene Quintero Gallo, Mitchel Seifermann, Austin Pundsack, and Casey Vornbrock. Cross bearer will be Seth Pundsack and gift bearers will be Adolf and Mildred Wensman. Serving as honorary bearers will be Herb's Godchildren and the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
