Helen M. Parsons, age 107 of Albany and formerly of Sauk Centre, died peacefully on October 13, 2016 at Mother of Mercy Care Center in Albany, Minnesota.
A prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre with Father Greg Paffel presiding. An interment service will take place at Saint Paul's Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Helen Marguerite Heitzman was born March 13, 1909 in Hospers, Iowa to John and Catherine Heitzman. Helen spent her early years in Iowa and later moved to Minnesota with her family. She was united in marriage to Freeman Parsons on January 2, 1935 and made their home in Sauk Centre. The couple owned and operated the Main Street Theatre in Sauk Centre for many years. They were the proud parents of their only child, Dennis Parsons. Freeman preceded Helen in death on March 30, 1989. She continued to live in Sauk Centre - at her home and the Catholic Charities apartments - and later moved to Mother of Mercy Campus of Care in Albany.
Helen was a member of Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.
Helen is survived by her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Parsons of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a dear friend who became like a daughter to Helen, Jonie Sundermann of Sauk Centre; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman; son, Dennis in 2011; her parents; her sisters, Martha Bernard Paaulson, Frances Faber and Rose Neuroth; and her brothers, Edward Heitzman, John Heitzman, Anton Heitzman, and Joseph Heitzman.
