Helen Norgarden

Helen K. Norgarden, age 99 of Sauk Centre, died Thursday, July 14, 2011 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 18 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sauk Centre at a later date.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Helen Katherine Kortan was born March 3, 1912 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Charles and Mary (Novak) Kortan. Helen worked at Swifts and Company for 27 years, The Sauk Centre Truck Stop for 3 years as a cook and for Jennie-0 Foods for 15 years. Helen enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and playing cards.

Helen was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her daughter Shirley (Victor) Elnitski of Lansdale, Pennsylvania; 3 grandchildren; 1 great- grandson and brother Richard (Joan) Kortan of Sauk Centre.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marie Kortan; brothers and sisters, George Kortan, Mathilda Dusek, Evelyn DePree, William Kortan, Steve Kortan, Frank Kortan, Charles Kortan and James Kortan.

Serving as casket bearers will be Dennis Kortan, Mark Kortan, Louis Kortan, John Dols, Ernest Uhlenkamp, Jerome Dusek. Serving as cross bearer will be Jean Devonshire. Serving as gift bearers will be Darlene Dols and Bernice Uhlenkamp.
