Helen Holdvogt

Helen M. Holdvogt, age 87 of New Munich, died peacefully Friday, March 21, 2008 surrounded by her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB officiating and Rev. Art Hoppe concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. followed by Saint Anne's Christian Women's Society at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Helen M. Holdvogt was born August 26, 1920 in New Munich, Minnesota to Herman and Anna (Schaefer) Hoppe . On May 10, 1943, she was united in marriage to Norbert B. Holdvogt. She loved quilting, gardening, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Saint Anne's Christian Women's Society.

Survivors include her children, Alvin (Bernadette) Holdvogt of New Munich, Henry (Diane) Holdvogt of New Hope, Richard (Anna Marie) Holdvogt of New Munich, Kenneth (Phyllis) Holdvogt of Eden Valley, Carol Holdvogt of Cold Spring, Mary Ann (Michael Zimmer) Holdvogt of Jacob's Prairie, Andrew Holdvogt of New Munich, Darlene (John) Strand of Alexandria, and Arthur (Ruth) Holdvogt of Eden Valley; 30 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Philomene Kleinfehn, Raymond Hoppe, Alquin Hoppe, Virgil Hoppe, and Edmund Hoppe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norbert B. Holdvogt on May 1, 1996; daughter, Susan Holdvogt; sister, Veronica Nathe; brothers, Roman and Alois Hoppe; and a great-granddaughter.
