Helen M. Hellermann, age 83 of Sauk Centre died Friday, March 10, 2006 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 13 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Helen Hellermann was born August 23, 1922 in Grove Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Bernard and Cecelia (Kersting) Feldeverd. She was united in marriage to Al Hellermann on June 12, 1940 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. Helen was a lifetime resident of Sauk Centre and a grandmother to many. She enjoyed reading mystery books, embroidering, gardening, camping, doing word puzzles, and most of all, her family. Helen was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her children, Ceil and Curt Pangburn of Sauk Centre, Carol and Wally Erickson of St. Rosa, Richard and LaVonne Hellermann, Bernice and John Gillies, Alice "Butch" and John Neussendorfer, all of Sauk Centre, Teresa and John Griffin of Glenwood, Jeanette and Ed Dulas of Sauk Centre; step children, Bill Gillies of Sauk Centre and Mary Westlund of Ashland, WI; 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and one step great grandchild; sisters, Veronica Toenies of Freeport, Rosalia "Mae" Van Heel of Foreston, Rita and Clarence Ritter of Melrose, Mary Ann and Joe Hollermann of Chatfield, and Marcella and Bernard Hollermann of Melrose.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Al Hellermann in 1957; second husband, Ervin Gillies in 2002; three sons, Alphonse, Donald and Luverne; two grandsons, Chad Hellermann and Brian Hellermann; sister, Marie Thomas; and brother, Joe Feldeverd.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jacob Ring, Eric Gillies, Gunnar Westlund, David Lade, Michael Wolbeck, and Matthew Lunser. Cross bearer will Carla Lunser. Honorary bearers will be Peggy Pooler, Sonja Middendorf, Mava Barchenger, Audrey Voss, Alberta Otte, Jo Rehkamp, Rita Primus, Ruth Crosby, Margaret Berscheit, Florence Schurman, and Helen Jorgenson.
