Hazel Sorenson

Hazel D. Sorenson, age 100 of Sauk Centre, died Monday, January 7, 2008 under the care of St. Michael's Hospice at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A memorial service will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, January 12 at the Maple Oaks Funeral Home, 2585 Stilwater Road East in Maplewood, Minnesota (651) 738-2198.A memorial service will also be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19 at Sauk Centre United Methodist Church at 504 Elm Street South with Rev. Lynda Ellis officiating.

Hazel Sorenson was born November 8, 1907 in St. Paul, Minnesota to August and Anne (Weber) Leider. She resided in St. Paul until moving to Sauk Centre in 1997. Hazel loved flowers, crocheting and reading.

Survivors include three children, Betty (Gordy) Chaput of Cushing, Keith (Gretchen) Sorenson of Sauk Centre, and Brian (Kathy) Sorenson of Buffalo Valley, Tennessee; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; brother, Allen Leider of Seattle, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Joan Greising; brothers, Ralph and Lloyd Leider.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Michael's Hospice, 433 Elm Street North, Sauk Centre, MN 56378.
