Hazel G. Peschel, age 86 of Melrose died peacefully Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at Pine Haven Care Center in Melrose.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 28 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Grey Eagle.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Daughters of Isabella will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening.
Hazel Peschel was born December 28, 1919 in Burnhamville Township, Todd County to George and Rose (Noyes) Harris. She married Robert W. Peschel on November 28, 1946 in Grey Eagle. Hazel graduated from Grey Eagle High School in 1937. She received her Elementary School Standard Certificate from St. Cloud Teacher's College in 1939. Her first teaching position was at a country school on the east side of Big Birch Lake, south of Grey Eagle. She also taught in Anoka, Grey Eagle, Melrose, and "The Hellerman School" north of Melrose. She retired from teaching in the late 70's and spent the rest of her working years helping her late husband, Robert, with his various business ventures.
Survivors include her children, Lynn Peschel, Steven Peschel, Rosanne Peschel, Marilyn (Peschel) Bigalke, and David Peschel; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and sister, Edith Kutter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert W. Peschel on September 29, 1988, and sisters, Carol Thompson, Bessie Young and Lillian Kutter.
Casket bearers will be John, Lee, Wayne, Roy, Bob, Fred and Mike Kutter, Rich, Alan, Jack and Jim Young, and Paul Thompson. Serving as cross bearer will be Anna Peschel and scripture bearer will be Bonnie Bigalke. Honorary bearers will be the members of the Daughters of Issabella Joan of Arc Circle of Melrose.
