Harry H. Piekarski, age 72 of Grey Eagle, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at his home in Grey Eagle, Minnesota.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 28 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Mark Willenbring officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church in Grey Eagle.
Harry H. Piekarski was born January 7, 1937 in Little Falls, Minnesota to Albert and Anna (Schipritt) Piekarski. He attended country school through the 8th grade. He graduated from Little Falls Community High School in 1954. After high school, he worked for the State Highway Department surveying the land for Highway 94 running from Melrose to St. Michael. He also worked for several years at Minnesota Power in Duluth. He then moved out to Williston, ND surveying the land around the big dams as well as the layout work for the land for the large sugar beet plant in Williston. During this time, he also attended Science School in Wahpeton. He came back to Minnesota and married Juletta Ostendorf on April 15, 1977 in Grey Eagle. Harry and Juletta owned the Hub Supper Club from 1977 to 1987.
Harry was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle.
Survivors include two sisters, Frances (Herman) Stangl of Pierz and Ann (Jim) Gallus of Big Lake; one step-son, David Ostendorf; daughter-in-law, Bernie Ostendorf; and five step-daughters, Ermina (Dave) Blaeser of Grey Eagle, Sharon Maciej (friend Don) of Edina, Noreen (Robert) Zollar of Grey Eagle, Alice (Les) Weibye of Ham Lake, and Debbie (Darrell) Vogel of Champlin; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Juletta; parents, Albert and Anna Piekarski; brothers, Richard, Ray, and Al Piekarski; and sisters, Loretta Sanoski, Marcella Piekarski, and Genevieve Zapzalka.
Serving as urn bearer will be Brian Zapzalka. Cross bearer will be Debbie Vogel and scripture bearer will be Gerald Piekarski. Honorary bearers will be his six step-children, David Ostendorf, Ermina Blaeser, Sharon Maciej, Noreen Zollar, Alice Weibye, and Debbie Vogel.
