Harrison Jay McGuire, age 11 of Ortonville, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 after a courageous battle with leukemia at the University of Minnesota/Fairview Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill with Rev. Ken Lulf officiating and Rev. Tom Becker concelebrating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill.

Harrison Jay McGuire was born April 27, 1998 in Olivia, Minnesota to David McGuire and Heidi (Ferguson) Justison. He has been a resident of Ortonville since 2004 and previously lived in Fulda, Minnesota. Harrison enjoyed delivering the Valley Shopper in Ortonville. He was an excellent marksman that even impressed the S.W.A.T. officers. He had a "never give up" attitude and fought to the end. His heart and smile were priceless, something you would never forget. He was a member of the AWANA Club of New Life Community Baptist Church in Ortonville, an honorary member of the Minneapolis Park Police Force, S.W.A.T. officer in Brunswick, Maine, and U.S. Federal Secret Service. He loved telling jokes to anyone who would listen, but especially to the doctors and nurses at the hospital.

Survivors include his father, David McGuire of Luverne; mother, Heidi Justison of Ortonville; step-father, Dennis Justison of Ortonville; brothers and sisters, Brandon, Graceann, Toby, Will, Kate, and Molly; grandmothers, Renate Ferguson of Spring Hill and Beverly McGuire of Pipestone; and his dog, Buddy.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jay Ferguson on June 11, 2008; and step-brother, David Douglas Justison on March 12, 1989.

Serving as urn bearer will be Brandon McGuire. Cross and scripture bearer will be Graceann McGuire. Honorary bearers will be the Law Enforcement Personnel.
