Harold Toenies

Harold E. Toenies, age 72 of Melrose, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Melrose Area Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. followed by the St. Joseph's Men's Society and the New Munich Lions Club at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Harold Toenies was born September 25, 1936 in Freeport, Minnesota to Henry and Anna (Willenbring) Toenies. Harry attended Melrose High School in Melrose. He was united in marriage to Jeanette "Jen" Hiltner on August 29, 1959 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. He farmed for over 40 years between Melrose and New Munich.

Harry was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, St. Joseph's Men's Society, and the New Munich Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, playing carbles and cards, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Jen Toenies of New Munich; children, Ann Toenies of Albany, and Paul Toenies of Melrose; 4 grandchildren, Patrick, Alison, Lauren, and Kean; brothers, Cel (Rita) Toenies of St. Cloud, Al (Marty) Toenies of Royalton, Gene (Nettie) Toenies of Cold Spring, Ed (Audrey) Toenies of Grey Eagle, and Richard (Phylis) Toenies of Kelliher; and brother-in-law, Arnie Kemper.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marie Rau and LuAnn Kemper.Serving as casket bearers will be Patrick Blenker, Paul Koopmeiners, Dan Carruth, Marv Thielen, Rick Rieland, Craig Hiltner, Steve Toenies, Scott Thelen, and Mike Toenies. Cross bearer will be Alison Blenker and scripture bearer will be Lauren Blenker.

Memorials are preferred to the Coborn Cancer Center in St. Cloud.
