Harold A. Fritzlar, age 76 of Sauk Centre, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 9 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Marty Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. A prayer service and eulogy will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Harold Alvin Fritzlar was born April 9, 1934 in Lake George Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Martin and Elsie (Betow) Fritzlar. Harold was born and raised on the family farm near Elrosa. On April 29, 1934 he was baptized at Unity Church and was confirmed on May 25, 1947. He attended Stearns County Country School. In 1946, he won the school spelling bee and graduated in 1947. After school, Harold farmed with his parents. Harold served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. After his honorable discharge, Harold returned to the family farm. On June 1, 1963 he married Helen Nathe at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Harold became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in 1964. Harold and Helen farmed with his sister and brother-in-law, Marion and LeRoy Frisell on the family farm from 1969 until 1973. Harold then took over the family farm and took pride in farming with International tractors. They held a farm auction on April 1, 2003. Harold suffered a stroke three days later, on April 4th. For the past six years he has been a resident at St. Michael's Nursing Home.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre, served as President of Unity Cemetery, Clerk of Lake George Township, and was a member of the Elrosa Senior Citizens Club. Harold enjoyed coffee clutch at Bucky's Bar, bowling, playing cards with Marion, Celia, and other friends and family, and deer hunting with LeRoy and Elmer.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Fritzlar of Sauk Centre; children, Linda (Steve) Hieserich of Elrosa, Barb (Tom) Frieler of Melrose, Roger (Jess) Fritzlar of Silver Lake, Rita (John) Nething of Hawick, Sandy (Cory) Buckman of Lakeville, Julie (Scott) Jensen of Belgrade, and Vicky (Tim) Janssen of St. Michael; grandchildren, Tracy and Katie Hieserich; Kurt and Jacob Frieler; Andrew Potter, Melissa and Matthew Fritzlar; Jonathan, Jesse, Jenna, and Joshua Schaeffer, Abraham, Malinda, John II, and David Nething; Kennedy and Addison Buckman; Tyler and Ryan Jensen; and Parker and Hunter Janssen; and sister, Marion Frisell of Alexandria.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Elsie Fritzlar; daughter, Cynthia Fritzlar who was born October 16, 1963 and died November 9, 1963; and brother, Elmer Fritzlar.

Serving as casket bearers will be Mark Fritzlar, David Fritzlar, Wayne Frisell, Glenn Frisell, Brent Frisell, and Darin Adolphsen.
