Gloria Mathre

Gloria M. Mathre, age 78, of Grey Eagle, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 18, 2006 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls, Minnesota.

We invite you to celebrate the life of Gloria at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 23 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Tibbetts officiating. Inurnment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.

All friends and family may call one hour prior to the service at the church in Grey Eagle.

Gloria Mathre was born May 25, 1928 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Emil and Rose (Waldvogel) Hiltunen. She married Marville Mathre on June 12, 1949 in Glenwood, Minnesota. She left a rich legacy in her children. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle. Gloria enjoyed bird watching, reading, taking casino trips, BINGO, cribbage and playing cards at the Senior Center.

Survivors include her children, Sharon Welck and her husband, Tom of Grey Eagle, Scott Mathre and his wife, Cindy of Cold Spring, Sue Schneider and her husband, Joseph of Kona, HI, Robert Mathre and his wife, Connie of Maple Grove, and Erik Mathre and his wife, Becky of Wildwood, MO; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Helen Hiltunen, Ron Hiltunen, Don Hiltunen, Bonnie Callisto and her husband, Don, Ginny Lidstone and her husband, Dick, and Mimi Rangitsch and her husband, Bud.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marville Mathre on April 21, 1970; infant son, Mark Marville Mathre in 1953; and sister, Darlene Healy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Grey Eagle Senior Citizen Center.
