Glen E. "Bob" Blank, age 79 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Saturday, April 8, 2006.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 11 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider and Rev. Sylvester Kleinschmidt concelebrating. Military honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard and the Little Sauk American Legion with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. followed by United Veterans prayers at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Bob Blank was born December 13, 1926 in Sanborn, Minnesota to Otto and Elsie (Bauer) Blank. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was called to active duty with the U.S. Army from the Minnesota National Guard during the Korean Conflict. On July 29, 1953 he married Irene Friedrichs at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. The couple farmed in Kandota Township, Todd County and Bob worked in city utility construction. He was employed by Emblom Brothers Construction and United Agri Products in Sauk Centre. Bob had been a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 25 years.He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, American Legion Post 417 of Little Sauk and Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Blank of Sauk Centre; five children, Dale "Termite" Blank of Buffalo, Dean "Aardvark" (Mary) Blank, Dann "Charlie" (Beryle) Blank, Glennis "Tink" (Greg Scott) Blonigen and Dennis "Bucky" (Sandy) Blank, all of Sauk Centre; ten grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers and sister, Arnold (Betty) Blank of Minneapolis, Betty Lou Carlen of Buffalo and Donald Blank of Detroit Lakes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alvin and Henry Blank; sisters, Fern Herder and Dorothy Kurrell.
Serving as casket bearers will be Camren and Todd Blank, Angela McCormack, Janice and Melissa Blonigen, Codie Browen, Mike Gardner and Lonney Olson. Cross bearer will be Tyler Blank and flower bearer will be Haley Blank.
