Gladys Pfarr

Gladys A. Pfarr, age 86 of Sauk Centre, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, November 6 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre with Rev. Rebecca Thomas officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Visitation will continue from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre followed by a procession to Oakland Cemetery for graveside services and interment.

Gladys Anderson was born March 19, 1923 in Brainerd, Minnesota to Christ and Carrie (Larson) Anderson. Gladys met Arnold Pfarr while working at the New Brighton Arsenal and on July 7, 1952 they were married in Nashua, Iowa. They resided in Maplewood until 1981 when they retired to Sauk Centre. Gladys worked for many years at Washburn Labs in Maplewood. She had been a 20 year survivor of breast cancer. Gladys enjoyed fishing and camping, needlework and embroidery.

She had attended First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Arnold Pfarr of Sauk Centre; son, Henry (Jean) Pfarr of Minneapolis; daughter, Beverly (Roger) Adair of Mounds View; four grandchildren, Jenny and Jamie Pfarr, Jeremy (Jessica) Adair, and Carrie Adair; and one great-granddaughter, Riley Gilbert-Pfarr.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Terry Pfarr; brothers and sisters, Melvin, Lewis, Ben, and Elmer Anderson, Esther Thoen, and Ruth Baird.

Serving as casket bearers will be David Nikoliasen, Jeremy and Carrie Adair, Jenny and Jamie Pfarr, and Jeff Otte.
