Burial will take place in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 10:45 a.m. Giles passed away July 19, 2018 at his brother's home in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Giles Edwin Korf, son of Elmer and Marie (Meyer) Korf was born August 9, 1942 at the family home in Elrosa, Minnesota. He attended District #156 Elementary School in Elrosa and SS. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Elrosa, graduating from Belgrade High School in 1960. He attended and graduated from the Minnesota School of Business. From 1964 to 1966, Giles served in the U.S. Army. In 1967, he was united in marriage to Donna Vallee; to this union four children were born. Giles was a sales associate for George A. Clark & Sons, Goodin Company, and Dynamic Homes. Later, he managed the Country Inn Motel in Elbow Lake, Minnesota.

Giles had a gift of talking and befriending complete strangers. He volunteered as a driver to take people to church and other appointments. Giles enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. He attended Minnesota Twins Spring Training in Florida several times and also attended Minnesota Vikings Training Camp in Mankato with his sons. If something needed fixing, Giles was the person to accomplish it -- from tinkering on cars to fixing things around his home. He was a "forever learner," getting his hands on every newspaper he could find, he would read the paper from front to back. He enjoyed playing Kings Corners and Cribbage with family and anyone willing to take him on.

His family was most important to him. His three brothers referred to him as "Shorty" and the only ones who could order their older brother around. His sisters "who talked more than he did" according to Giles were always important to him! Giles was very proud of his oldest son, Mark earning his Eagle Scout Award and would enjoy watching him play golf in high school. Giles always loved to attend football and baseball games Jeff participated in. Lisa always held a special place in her dad's heart as his only daughter and he was extremely proud of her earning her nursing degree. Giles loved to watch Brian play ball, watching him become a coach, and coaching high school athletics. Giles enjoyed spending time with his twelve grandchildren. He would drive for hours just to watch them play sports or even to share a meal. He recently became a Great Grandpa and was very proud of his new title!

Giles was a member of Church of St. Leonard in Pelican Rapids and SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Leonard's in Pelican Rapids and the Pelican Rapids Jaycees.

He will be greatly missed by his four children, Mark (Jeannie) Korf of Woodbury, Jeff (Erin) Korf of Fernley, NV, Lisa (Jeremy) Johnson of Farmington, and Brian (Amy) Korf of Pelican Rapids; grandchildren, Mathew, Michael, and Andrew Korf, Sawyer Korf, Delaney, Kaitlyn, Gabe, and Ryleigh Johnson, Madison, Mackenzie, McHale, and Morgan Korf; great grandson, Rocky Kosen; siblings, Margaret (Kenneth) Elis of Sunset Beach, NC, Fr. Joseph Korf of Elrosa, Rebecca (Anthony) Strupeck of Port St. Lucie, FL, Norma (Douglas) Mahal of Lake City, Steven Korf of Elrosa, Irene Korf of Port St. Lucie, FL, John (Peggy) Korf of St. Cloud, and Dolores Korf of Port St. Lucie, FL; brother-in-law, Don Simon of Rockville; and many nieces and nephews.
