Gertrude Wielenberg, 86 of Sauk Centre, died Friday, May 2, 2008 at St. Michael's Nursing Home, Sauk Centre.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with interment following in Calvary cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Parish Prayers will be 5:15 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home followed by Christian Mothers at 7 p.m.

Gertrude Wielenberg was born March 30, 1922 in Padua to John and Mary (Krebsbach) Kinsella. As a young girl, she attended the little red school house that now sits next to the Sinclair Lewis Interpretive Center. In January of 1963 she married Edwin H. Wielenberg in Sauk Centre. She worked as a cook at Noah's Ark and Diamond Point. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and baking; cinnamon rolls were a specialty of hers. She also loved to sell eggs and many times she would sell them just to get the buyer to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee with her.Gertrude was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, Christian Mothers, and the Little Sauk American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include step-children that she loved as her own, Gerald (Mary) Wielenberg of Coon Rapids, Bernard (Judith) Wielenberg of Grey Eagle, Sharon (John) Bartels of Roseville, Carol (Steve) Miller of St. Paul, and Janet (Robert) Wallgren of Carlos; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene Marthaler of Sauk Centre and Katherine Schmeising of Sauk Centre; brothers, Bernie Kinsella of Cheyenne, Wyoming, John Berscheit of Sauk Centre and Paul (Verda) Berscheit of Prior Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin H. Wielenberg on September 16, 1971; step-son, Ronald Wielenberg on July 6, 1986; parents, John and Mary Kinsella; and brothers, Robert and Lloyd Kinsella.

Serving as casket bearers will be her grandchildren, John Bartels, Joe Bartels, Brian Miller, Ehren Wielenberg, Edwin Wielenberg, and Benjamin Wielenberg. Cross bearer will be Amanda Wallgren and scripture bearer will be Jennifer Kohout.
