Gertrude A. Krebsbach, age 87 of Sauk Centre, died unexpectedly Monday, August 31, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 4 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home, followed by Christian Mothers rosary at 7 p.m.
Gertrude Gans was born June 30, 1922 in West Union Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Joseph and Lidwina (Bentfield) Gans. On September 10, 1946 she married Alphonse Krebsbach at St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union. The couple farmed for 38 years in West Union Township, Todd County until retiring in 1984 and moving to Sauk Centre. She had resided at the Silver Crest Apartments for several years and for the past two years she had resided with her daughter, Theresa. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and East Ashley Ladies Club.Gertrude's favorite pastimes included journaling, sewing, and playing cards. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, and great-grandson and prayed for them often.
Survivors include six children, JoAnn (Donald) Walz of Sauk Centre, Margaret (David) Holmquist of Long Prairie, Rita (Daniel) Ohman of Duluth, Jeannette (Robert) Mugg of Melrose, Richard (Monica) Krebsbach of Osakis, and Theresa Krebsbach of Sauk Centre; ten grandchildren, Kimberly, Amy, Jessica, Jennifer, Jill, Jamie, Joseph, Josepha, Alex, and Mary; one great-grandson, Logan; sister, Viola Bromen of Sauk Centre; brother, Fr. Richard Gans, OCSO in Chile; sister-in-law, Mildred Gans of Sauk Centre.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Al Krebsbach on August 11, 1987; two infant sons; brother, Roger Gans; and brother-in-law, Vern Bromen.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jamie Hiltner, Alex Krebsbach, Joseph Mugg, Tyler Johnson, Joseph Frank, and Shawn Borgerding. Cross bearer will be Mary Mugg and scripture bearer will be JoAnn Walz. Honorary bearers will be Leona Bromenshenkel, Mildred Rieland, Mary Mae Olson, Caroline Porttiin, Mildred Poepping, Evelyn Schmidt, and Betty DeVerandt.
