Gerald G. "Jack" Sunderman, age 79 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 16 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating and Rev. Todd Schneider concelebrating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Military Honors provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday evening.
Gerald George Sunderman was born August 31, 1932 in Ward Springs, Minnesota to Paul and Clara (Klempke) Sunderman. Jack grew up on a farm. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952 and served in Germany until 1954. On May 21, 1955 he married Regina Uphoff at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. He worked on the railroad and later went into the fuel business for 50 years. Jack drove school bus for over 35 years. He loved farming, driving tractor for other farmers, bowling, golfing, playing cards and dancing.
Jack was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Sauk Centre Country Club, American Legion Post 67, Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853, Sauk Centre Fire Department for 20 years and a former member of the Lions Club.
Jack is survived by his wife, Regina "Regie" Sunderman of Sauk Centre; sons, Mark Sunderman of Sauk Centre, Marty (Brenda "Binky") Sunderman of Sauk Centre and Mike (Cindy) Sunderman of Sauk Centre; seven grandchildren, Adam Sunderman, Nathan Sunderman, Jeremy (LeeAnn) Sunderman, Jessie (Dan) Keller, Jenna Sunderman, Nick (Sheena) Sunderman and Christopher "Dewey" Sunderman; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy "Dutch" (Vic) Wiener of Sauk Centre and Phyliss "Peg" Lenarz of Hibbing; brother, Bill (Irene) Sunderman of Sauk Centre; and sister-in-law, Leora Sunderman of Sauk Centre.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Clara Sunderman; infant son; sister, Patty Sunderman; brother, Ken Sunderman; and brother-in-law, Roy Lenarz.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jeremy Sunderman, Nick Sunderman, Christopher Sunderman, Adam Sunderman, Nathan Sunderman and Dan Keller. Cross bearer will be Jenna Sunderman and scripture bearer will be Jessie Keller.
