Gerald Kimpling

Gerald D. "Jerry" Kimpling, age 70 of Melrose died Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 24 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Rev. Ken Thielman will officiate with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 12 to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jerry Kimpling was born on October 25, 1936 in Clara City, Minnesota to Merle and Ann (Specht) Kimpling. He moved to Melrose in the early 1970's where he was employed by the Jennie-O Turkey Store for over 35 years. He retired in 2002. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, camping and mowing lawn.

Survivors include his daughter, Sheila (Doug) Stafford of Sauk Centre; step-children, Tammy (Tom) Proell of Sauk Centre, Charline Moorman of Kearney, Nebraska, Rhonda (Randy) Thompson of Mankato, John (Sherri) Baughman of Odessa, Nebraska, Betty (Dean) Simonson of Sedan; six grandchildren; mother, Ann Kimpling of Montevideo; brothers and sister, Ronald (Linda) Kimpling of Sacred Heart, Duaine (Kathy) Kimpling of Granite Falls, Linda (Dalen) Grussing of Renville, and Merlin (Elizabeth) Kimpling of Clara City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Merle Kimpling; infant son, Gerald; and brother, Les Kimpling.

Serving as casket bearers will be Ronald and Merlin Kimpling, Doug Stafford and Dean Simonson.
