George H. Britz, age 78 of Sauk Centre, died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 20 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. James Statz will officiate with private inurnment in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 8 to 10 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 6:30 p.m. followed by a United Veterans prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
George Britz was born on October 23, 1927 in Springfield, Illinois to Joseph and Anna (Kueper) Britz. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force retiring in 1966. On January 15, 1954, George was united in marriage to Evelyn Tully in Chicago, Illinois. The couple moved to Wadena in 1977. Since 1998 George has resided in Sauk Centre. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church.George enjoyed a good cup of coffee, listening to music and spending time with his family.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Britz of Little Falls and William (Debbie) Britz of Sauk Centre; three grandchildren, David, Brian and Emily Britz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn, on July 18, 1991; granddaughter, Carrie Marie Britz; brothers, Paul and Joseph Britz; and sister, Martha Pennock.
Serving as casket bearers will be David and Brian Britz, Kenny, Cody and Sawyer Hinnenkamp, and Giovanni Caponi. Cross bearer will be Emily Britz and scripture bearer will be Tyler Blank. Serving as lector will be Laurie Quistorff. Honorary bearers will be Gregg and Jeremy Valentine, Bruce Jacobson and Terry Altermatt.
