Genevieve Wenning

Genevieve M. "Jenny" Wenning, age 100 of Albany, died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at her home in Albany, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 11 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with Rev. Julius Beckermann, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Seven Dolors Gathering Area in Albany. Parish prayers will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday evening at the gathering area.

Genevieve Marie Zenzen was born February 6, 1917 in Albany, Minnesota to Anton and Julia (Silbernick) Zenzen. On May 7, 1935 she was united in marriage to Alois Wenning at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. Jenny farmed with her husband on the farm north of Albany. She would help drive tractor and do other farm work, but mostly she took care of her family. In 1979, the couple retired and moved into Albany. She was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. Jenny was an excellent seamstress and made beautiful quilts. She also enjoyed cooking and in her younger years, she loved to dance. Jenny loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Marlene (Lloyd) Maus of St. Paul, Arnie (Ellen) Wenning of St. Joseph, Betty (Jerry) Baggenstoss of St. Joseph, Kenny (Linda) Wenning of Albany, David (LuAnn) Wenning of Albany, and Diann (Duane) Shabel of St. Cloud; daughter-in-law, Joan Wenning of Holdingford; 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Gerald (Lorraine) Zenzen of Albany.

Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Alois Wenning on April 18, 1980; parents; sons, Allen Wenning and Jerome Wenning; grandson, Jon Maus; great-grandson, Taylor John Wenning; great-granddaughter, Lily Klaphake; brothers, Anthony, Ervin, and Oswald Zenzen; and sisters, Eleanor Voit, Lucille Vos, and Bernadine Gasperlin; and an infant sister, Bernadette Zenzen.

Serving as casket bearers will be Andrew Shabel, Jeff Baggenstoss, Michael Wenning, Joe Wenning, Jason Wenning, and Avery Lingenfelter. Cross bearer will be Kathy Yamry and scripture bearer will be Melissa Sand. Honorary bearers will be Jodi Lingenfelter, Carla Walz, Kimberly Larson, Brittany Wenning, Anne Dueval, Sarah Wenning, and Lucy Maus. Gift bearers will be Anthony Wenning and Joe Baggenstoss and lector will be Michelle Mareck.
